Why do women wear the Burka? Peoples

- “I did a research on that. Here are some interesting facts other than religious belief;
1. Origin of Islam is Arab which is in between the deserts. Now to avoid water loss and direct ray of sun they used to do that. You can see males of Arabian countries also cover their head.
2. Those days women were very sensitive towards ray of sun so it was proposed to cover their whole body.
3. From the beginning Arabians are admirer of beauty, arts, songs etc and due to male domination they thought that it's their right that no one should see the beauty belongs to them.
As Islam spread, basically the Arabian culture spread and we can observe it. I don't oppose the system but it should be followed scientifically. Being a male I use to cover my face in the days of summer when I go outside. But there is no need of burka in winter. It should not compulsory in cold countries where very less energetic rays of sun fall or people unable to see the sun for months. In fact in those regions people should allow their body to get more sun rays as it's a good source of Vitamin-D. I think that's why western people use lesser clothes.
In some answers women is compared with lollipop and men with house fly. How can be a girl compared with such materialistic things. If we can't control us after seeing a half covered on uncovered girl, then in which way we are different from animals. I am not a feminist but I think women are same as men and they have equal rights. It should be their choice whether they want to wear it or not.
Edit: The original color of burka was sky blue. Brown color was also used in ancient days. If you think the black is only color of burka, let me tell you that it's a good business color. Pre-islamic Arabians used it more scientifically than it is used now a days. Women use it because they think it'll pledge the God which is not the purpose.” - “A burqa is considered to be a protective wearing for a woman against the lewd eyes of men. Being a Muslim myself, I know how some people degrade women in burqa. But, 'pardah' is an important part of the Islamic tradition.
However, you might see some women who don't wear burqa and it's all about a matter of personal choice. I personally believe that as long as women are properly covered with legitimate clothing, a woman is under 'pardah' or veiled from indecent looks.
Well, there's been an interesting piece of news I'd read wherein, a couple of girls were advocating that they wear a burqa and they don't need to show how beautiful they're because Allah has made them beautiful. This is certainly true. However, no one can dishonor the decision of those girls who do not prefer to don that garment as I've mentioned before, its all part of personal choice. Also, no one must be forced to wear a burqa as it should come from within and not due to societal pressure or social stigma!” - “The purpose of Muslim women to wear burkas is to cover their body and face and to avoid nah-mahram (men that are not allowed to see them without hijab) men from looking at them. Burka is part of Islam, however, it is not mandatory to wear it and some women wear it as an act of virtue (to please Allah).”
- “According to the Holy Quran, it is mandatory that women cover their body as well as their hair in order to prevent "outside" men (i.e., men except blood relations) from desiring them or harming them. But, when I did some research on this, no where is a "burqa" made compulsory. In the deserts of Saudi Arabia, where Islam emerged first, men and women covered themselves completely in order to protect themselves from sand storms. If you see, men in saudi wear white robes with red and white chequered head cloth and women wear burqa, niqab and hijab. The color difference is just for differentiation. Burqas serve the purpose of covering the body easily as a single piece of clothing. As soon as the women enter their houses or their relative/friends' house, they remove it. And, they do wear beautiful clothes inside the burqas!”
- “Islam believes that exposing your skin can get you in trouble. So hide it (only for girls).
But the worst thing is that they
make small girls wear Burqa.
Funniest thing is that they will
hide their entire body. They can't even
recognize themselves. And then
they take group photographs.”
Quote
from Qur’an
O
Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to
bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more
suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving
and Merciful.
33:59
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their
private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what
they do.
And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.

Why do Muslim women wear the
niqab and Burka when the Quran says women women do not have to cover their
face?
- “Burka is not an Islamic requirement. It’s not even an Arab thing.
- Many historic accords say that it was a Iranian/Jewish thing, that Arabs imported to their own lands after they conquered Iran, as a sign of a more advanced civilization, and then it stuck.
- It was common for nobles of Iranian origin to cover their faces, so that the common people do not look at them.”
- “Some women choose to do so. That may be they way they feel comfortable. Sometimes there may be family or societal pressure. It should really be a choice the woman makes for herself. Each woman has her own reasons for doing so.”
